Another year has passed, and to be frank, this year the blog has basically been neglected. I haven't written much at all throughout the year, nor have I had much time to come and check in. The last time I wrote a blog post was eight months ago, and the last summary I wrote was in 2022 (I’ve been slacking off for a full two years!).
After a busy day, I finally found some time in the evening and managed to overcome my procrastination to write this year's summary.
Life#
There’s not much to say about the weekends; to sum it up in one sentence: I’ve mostly been lying at home and haven’t gone out much.
The holidays were a bit better; during National Day, I went to Osaka and Kyoto, and even did a pilgrimage to the Conan sites. Here are a few pictures.
Overall, it was still worth going!
Work#
I successfully got promoted at the beginning of this year, and my work content has changed quite a bit. It seems I haven’t fully adapted yet, so I’ll need to keep working hard next year.
The second half of the year has been just as busy, often requiring weekend overtime. There are some unavoidable factors, but the vast majority are actually avoidable.
In December, the company celebrated its 20th anniversary, and I managed to grab a ticket for Tim's sharing session, successfully getting a group photo!
Learning#
This year, my learning can almost be said to be nonexistent.
I didn’t have time to prepare for the senior software exam I planned at the beginning of the year, so I didn’t take it. The Japanese language study I planned for the second half of the year also fell through due to work piling up.
Instead, the company organized a vocational skills certification, and since there were subsidies available, I obtained three certificates. (So having money to gain is the motivation!)
Entertainment#
This year in gaming, I hardly ventured out of the Mihoyo circle; it was just Genshin Impact. By the end of the year, I tried out "Infinite Warmth" at my wife's recommendation but had to temporarily abandon it due to lack of time.
I didn’t touch any PC games at all. When Wukong just came out, I thought about trying it with cloud gaming, but later gave up for the same reason of time constraints.
I also didn’t have much time to watch anime this year; it’s all piled up in the NAS, and I haven’t watched any.
Future#
2024 hasn’t been going very well; the pressure from all aspects is quite significant. The only relatively good thing might be my mindset. Although I’m not satisfied with the current situation, I still have confidence in the future.
In 2025, I hope to overcome procrastination again, as it has delayed quite a few things this year. I hope to occasionally remember to come and write a blog. I also hope to pay more attention to family and friends, to have a more fulfilling life, as life is long, and work is not everything.
Finally, I wish you a Happy New Year if you’ve read this article!
