I finally bought a nearly brand new Xperia XZ Premium.
Screen#
Sony's screens have always been top-notch. This XZP is equipped with one of the top LCD screens, with impressive 4K HDR display effects. The level of detail is incomparable to the 720P XZ1C and XC I used before. However, the "super realistic mode" still has those vivid colors that I can't understand, so I stick to the standard mode for daily use.
Appearance#
The appearance of the XZP is undoubtedly my favorite among all phones in recent years. The square shape, combined with the glass body on both sides, is one of the few phones that can stand upright.
Applications#
Sony's system can be said to be close to stock Android, with just a bunch of pre-installed apps added. So, before using it, get rid of these apps first.
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 [package name]
The apps that can be uninstalled are as follows:
com.sonymobile.entrance
com.touchtype.swiftkey
com.amazon.kindle
com.amazon.mShop.android.shopping
com.facebook.katana
com.facebook.services
com.facebook.system
com.facebook.appmanager
com.spotify.music
com.s.antivirus
com.sony.tvsideview.videoph
com.sonymobile.moviecreator.rmm
com.sonyericsson.xhs
com.google.android.videos
com.google.android.music
Choose to delete selectively according to personal needs.
Navigation#
Similarly, with Android 9.0, Sony does not provide any adaptation for non-factory pre-installed models.
Although Sony doesn't provide it, we can install it ourselves. The method is simple, just install a launcher that supports navigation gestures. Here, I use the "Xperia 10" launcher extracted by the XDA developer, download and install it, then execute the corresponding operation with adb.
System#
Sony is quite proactive in updating the system, pushing security updates almost every month. However, based on past experience, the XZP is unlikely to receive the official Android 10 update.
